2011 Season: In his second year with the Baltimore Orioles, the 26-year-old right-hander Rick van den Hurk spent most of the year with the Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk, playing in the International League. He went 9-13 with an ERA of 4.43 in 26 starts. He struck out 108 batters in a career high 154 1/3 innings, walking 40. In September he joined the O’s in the MLB. He appeared in four games (two starts). He allowed 12 hits, nine runs (8 ER) and eight walks in nine innings, striking out seven. In November he again brought a couple of Major Leaguers to Europe for the European Big League Tour, which included Prince Fielder and Greg Halman this year.
