2010 in Review – Spanish Division de Honor – CB Sant Boi

We are right in the middle for our annual season reviews of European Baseball. We already looked to Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. Now the Spanish Division de Honor is at the plate.

CB Sant Boi

2010 Record: 33-3
2010 Ranking: 1st place in Division de Honor. CB Sant Boi won the championship in the Spanish Division de Honor, losing just three games all season. They didn’t lose their first game until a 0-1 nail biter against the Tenerife Marlins on April 10. Sant Boi clinched the title with two victories over the FC Barcelona on the last game day. In the European Cup in Brno they won two of five games, which was only good for fifth place. In the Copa del Rey they were eliminated in the semi-finals.
Runs Scored: 315 (2nd)
Runs Allowed: 56 (1st)

Best Batter: Juan Manuel Salazar. He batted a third-best .412 (OBP .524/SLG .509) with one homerun, eight doubles, 31 runs and 27 RBI in 34 games for Sant Boi this year.
Best OPS: Marc Carrillo 1.116
Most Home Runs: Marc Carrillo 8 (tied for 3rd in league)
Most RBI: Jose Luis Riera 45 (2nd in league)
Most Runs Scored: Daniel Martinez 45 (3rd in league)
Most Stolen Bases: Rafael Rivas 16 (tied for 1st)

Best Pitcher: Jose Guanchez. The former minor leaguer only was a member of the team for the first part of the season, but still was able to leave his mark. He went 6-0 with an ERA of 0.41 in twelve games (six starts). He struck out 59 batters in 44 innings, walked 17 and allowed just 19 hits.
Best ERA Starter: Junior Guerra 0.89 (4th in league)
Best ERA Reliever: Jose Guanchez 0.41 (led league)
Most Strikeouts: Junior Guerra 122
Most Walks: Jose Estebin Cruz 39
Most Innings Pitched: Junior Guerra 91.0
