2010 in Review – Spanish Division de Honor – Astros Valencia

We are right in the middle for our annual season reviews of European Baseball. We already looked to Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. Now the Spanish Division de Honor is at the plate.

Astros Valencia

2010 Record: 16-20
2010 Ranking: 6th place in Division de Honor. After not being competitive in the Division de Honor in the previous two seasons, the Astros Valencia heavily reinforced the roster last winter and translated it into success on the field. 16 wins were good enough for sixth place.
Runs Scored: 223 (4th)
Runs Allowed: 246 (7th)

Best Batter: Kevin Malone. He batted .394 (OBP .484/SLG .613) with six homeruns, 44 runs and 31 RBI in 35 games this year, his first in Spanish Baseball.

Most Home Runs: Kevin Malone 6
Most RBI: Sandel Cuevas 39 (tied for 5th)
Most Runs Scored: Kevin Malone 44 (4th)
Most Stolen Bases: Alberto Orti 16 (led league)

Best Pitcher: John Scott Dunn. He had a 9-7 record with an ERA of 3.60 in 18 games (16 starts). He struck out 140 batters in 125 innings, while walking 35.

Best ERA Reliever: Luis Garcia 8.23 (Minimum 15 IP)
Most Strikeouts: John Scott Dunn 140 (4th)
Most Walks: Jordi Valles 40
Most Innings Pitched: John Scott Dunn 125.0 (2nd)
