2011 in Review – German Baseball-Bundesliga – Haar Disciples

We continue our review series of Europe’s baseball leagues after the Netherlands and Italy with the German Baseball-Bundesliga.

Haar Disciples

2011 Record: 13-11
2011 Ranking: 4th place in southern division. For a second straight year the Haar Disciples edged out a German baseball power house in the regular season and reached the playoffs. In the quarterfinals they lost in four games to the Untouchables Paderborn, but not before pitching a no-hitter (Nils Hartkopf) in game three of the series.

Runs Allowed: 155 (4th)

Best Batter: Ty Eriksen. The outfielder batted .391/.505/.529 with 17 runs and 18 RBI in 24 games.

Best Pitcher: Nils Hartkopf. Hindered by an injury, the right-hander only was able to pitch in 50 innings. He went 3-3 with one save and an ERA of 3.78 in 11 games. He struck out 53 and walked 37.
