2011 in Review – Dutch Hoofdklasse – L&D Amsterdam

As we did in the last couple of years, we want to use the offseason to look back at the statistical performances by the teams in Europe’s top baseball leagues this past season. At the plate for the first part is the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

L&D Amsterdam

2011 Record: 30-11-1
2011 Ranking: 1st. L&D Amsterdam won the championship in the Dutch Hoofdklasse thanks to winning the best-of-seven Holland Series 4-1 against the Vaessen Pioniers. The Pirates already battled for first place during the regular season, missing the top spot by a mere half game. During the playoffs they won six of the nine games to qualify for the championship series.
Runs Scored: 257 (3rd)
Runs Allowed: 151 (2nd)

Best Batter: Vince Rooi. The former Minor Leaguer batted .381 (OBP .452/SLG .604) with four homeruns, two triples, 15 doubles, 35 runs and 37 RBI in 38 games this past season.

Most Stolen Bases: Roeland Henrique Jr. 19

Best Pitcher: Rob Cordemans. The veteran right-hander pulled off another stellar season the mound, going 9-1 with an ERA of 0.31 in 13 starts. He struck out 127 batters in 88 innings, while walking just ten and issuing only 40 hits.
