2011 in Review – German Baseball-Bundesliga – Gauting Indians

We continue our review series of Europe’s baseball leagues after the Netherlands and Italy with the German Baseball-Bundesliga.

Gauting Indians

2011 Record: 8-24 (including playdowns)
2011 Ranking: 6th place in southern division. After their most successful season in team history in 2010, which nearly put the Gauting Indians in the playoffs, they were back in the cellar of the German Baseball-Bundesliga in 2011. Import players disappointed and they only were able to hold off the promoted Bad Homburg Hornets to secure a spot in the 2012 campaign. However following the season the club decided to withdraw from the league and going back to start at the bottom.
Runs Scored: 95 (6th)
Runs Allowed: 216 (7th)

Best Batter: Matti Emery. The catcher batted .316/.436/.513 with three homeruns, 15 runs and 16 RBI in 22 games for Gauting in 2011.
Best OPS: Travis Latz 1.002
Most Homeruns: Travis Latz 5
Most RBI: Matti Emery 16
Most Runs Scored: Travis Latz 17
Most Stolen Bases: Lasse Bischoff 5

Best Pitcher: Benji Wait. The American hurler went 0-7 with an ERA of 5.73 in 12 games. He struck out 73 batters in 75 1/3 innings, walking 35.
Best ERA Starting Pitcher: Benji Wait 5.73
Best ERA Reliever: John Dobkowski 7.47
Most Strikeouts: Benji Wait 73
Most Walks: Dominik Hartinger, Benji Wait 35
Most Innings Pitched: Dominik Hartinger 77.2
