Prospects in 2009 – Petr Cech – Billings Mustangs



During the winter months we are going to look back at the performances of Europeans, who played in the United States during the 2009 season.

Petr Cech

Birth date: 10/13/1987 in Ostrava, Czech Republic
Throws/Bats: Right/Left
Organization: Cincinnati Reds
Position: Catcher

2009 Season: Petr Cech began his third professional season for the third straight year in the Gulf Coast League, where he batted .154 (OBP .204/SLG .188) with four RBI in 17 games. At the beginning of August he received the promotion to the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League and finished the year over there. In six games with Billings he had three hits and a walk in ten plate appearances, scoring one run and drive in another. After the IBAF Baseball World Cup in September (1-4 in two starts) he helped out his hometown club Arrows Ostrava in seven playoff games, including the Extraleague finals, collecting eight hits in 25 at-bats.
