Prospects in 2009 – Matteo Pizziconi – GCL Reds

During the winter months we are going to look back at the performances of Europeans, who played in the United States during the 2009 season.

Matteo Pizziconi

Birth date: 10/30/1989 in Anzio, Italy
Throws/Bats: Left/Left
Organization: Cincinnati Reds
Position: Pitcher

2009 Season: Matteo Pizziconi also stayed in the Gulf Coast League during his second professional season. He appeared in ten games, going 2-2 with an ERA of 1.88, while striking out eight batters in 14 1/3 innings, while walking ten. His cousin Andrea Pizziconi was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization this summer. Matteo had two appearances for the Italian National Team during the 2009 Baseball World Cup, allowing two hits and a walk in 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
