2009 in Review – German Baseball-Bundesliga – Paderborn Untouchables

A few weeks ago, we started our review series. After the Dutch Hoofdklasse, the Italian Baseball League and the Spanish Division de Honor, we now direct our attention to the German Baseball-Bundesliga.

Paderborn Untouchables

2009 Record: 18-6
2009 Ranking: 2nd place in northern division of Baseball-Bundesliga. In the quarterfinals they were eliminated by the Mannheim Tornados in four games.

Runs Allowed: 73

Best Batter: Octavio Medina. The 38-year-old shortstop, who made his debut for the German national team this year, batted .403 (OBP .513/SLG .516) with one triple, five doubles, 17 runs scored and 24 RBI in 18 games.

Most Home Runs: Oliver Neisemeier, Bjoern Schonlau 1
Most RBI: Octavio Medina 24 (tied for 4th in league)
Most Runs Scored: Gavin Ng 36 (2nd in league)

Best Pitcher: Eugen Heilmann. The 28-year-old right-hander had an 8-1 record with an ERA of 2.18 in 12 games (ten starts). He struck out 77 in 86 2/3 innings, while walking 23.
Best ERA: Daniel Rahn 1.96 (Minimum 15 IP)
Most Strikeouts: Eugen Heilmann 77 (4th in league)

Most Innings Pitched: Eugen Heilmann 86.2 (2nd in league)
