2009 in Review – German Baseball-Bundesliga – Mainz Athletics

A few weeks ago, we started our review series. After the Dutch Hoofdklasse, the Italian Baseball League and the Spanish Division de Honor, we now direct our attention to the German Baseball-Bundesliga.

2009 Ranking: 4th place in southern division of Baseball-Bundesliga. In the quarterfinals the Mainz Athletics were eliminated by the Solingen Alligators in three games.

Best Batter: Mike Larson. The 26-year-old Canadian outfielder batted .391 (OBP .443/SLG .690) with five homeruns, a triple, nine doubles, 15 runs scored and 19 RBI in 24 games.

Most Home Runs: Mike Larson 5 (tied for first in league)

Best Pitcher: Max Boldt. The 21-year-old right-hander had an ERA of 1.67 in 27 innings over 13 relief appearances. He struck out 27 batters and walked 14.
