2011 in Review – Czech Extraleague – Technika Brno

After taking a statistical look back in Baseball in the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and Spain, we’re now bringing the Czech Extraleague to the plate.

Technika Brno

2011 Record: 22-13
2011 Ranking: 3rd place in Extraleague after regular season. Technika Brno accomplished one of the biggest feats in recent European Baseball history, as they ended the 16-year long reign of AVG Draci Brno in Czech Baseball. After a modest regular season with a third-place finish Technika beat Kotlarka Prague in the semi-finals and AVG Draci Brno in the finals – each in four games. They also won a European Cup Qualifier and the European Cup Playoff to secure a second A-Pool spot for the Czech Republic in 2012.

Runs Allowed: 197 (2nd)

Best Batter: Daniel Mraz. He batted .400/.506/.519 with two homeruns, ten doubles, 41 runs scored and 23 RBI in 39 games.

Best Pitcher: Roger Deago. He went 9-2 with an ERA of 2.56 in 17 games. He struck out 107 batters and walked 32 in 105 1/3 innings.
