On Day Four of the Under-12 Baseball World Cup, the Czech Republic posted a strong performance against Panamá, while Germany and South Africa were both shut out. Elsewhere, South Korea pulled off an important upset victory, and two games were postponed by rain.
A quartet of Czech Baseball pitchers kept the game close against Panamá, with the Central American nation plating single runs in the second and third before blowing the game open with four in the fifth. Alas, the Czech could muster only four hits and three walks, taking a 6-0 loss.
Following the Czech Republic – Panamá game, the Dominican Republic posted 20 hits in three innings and did not surrender a hit to South Africa, winning 25-0. After a downpour washed out Japan – Mexico and Cuba – Australia, tournament hosts Taiwan eased to a 17-0 victory against Germany. The only other game to be played was a shocker, with South Korea breaking a 2-2 deadlock through three against the U.S., going on to win 6-2. The U.S. has won five of the six U12 Baseball World Cup tournaments in which it has competed, while Korea has never secured a medal.
