2011 in Review – Italian Baseball League – Montepaschi Grosseto

After a short break we’re continuing our review series for the 2011 season. After the Dutch Hoofdklasse next up is the Italian Baseball League.

2011 Record: 18-24
2011 Ranking: 6th place. Montepaschi Grosseto troubled by financial problems still had a realistic chance to make the playoffs in the Italian Baseball League. However the Orioles lost eight of their last nine games of the season to settle for sixth place in the final standings.
Runs Scored: 191 (6th)
Runs Allowed: 229 (6th)

Best Batter: Luis Perez. He batted .371/.447/.494 with seven extra base hits in just 24 games for Grosseto.

Most Homeruns: Jhonny Carvajal 3
Most RBI: Andrea Sgnaolin 23
Most Runs Scored: Alessandro Vaglio 23
Most Stolen Bases: Daniel Bittar 4

Best Pitcher: Yovany D’Amico. He went 3-4 with an ERA of 3.31 in 16 games (3 starts). He struck out 45 batters in 49 innings, walking 16.
Best ERA Starter: Jean Granado 3.48
Best ERA Reliever: Lino Luciani 2.86
Most Strikeouts: Riccardo De Santis 68
Most Walks: Jean Granado 45
Most Innings Pitched: Riccardo De Santis 82.1
