2010 in Review – French Elite League – Savigny Lions

We are in the middle of our annual season review series of the European Baseball leagues. After Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain, we are going to take a look at the French Elite League.

Savigny Lions

2010 Record: 20-4
2010 Ranking: 1st place in French Elite League after regular season. During the semi-final round the Savigny Lions went 5-4 and reached the championship series for a second straight year. But again the Rouen Huskies had the happy ending after four games. At the European Cup in Rotterdam Savigny won just one of five games and finished in sixth place out of six teams. The Lions decided afterwards not to participate in the European Cup Playoff and the French Federation lost one of its two A-Pool spots.
Runs Scored: 217 (1st)
Runs Allowed: 122 (3rd)

Best Batter: Christophe Goniot. He batted .410 (OBP .495/SLG .482) with six doubles, 20 runs scored and 18 RBI in 20 games.
Best OPS: Florian Peyrichou 1.044
Most Homeruns: Tim Stewart 3 (tied for 2nd)
Most RBI: Tim Stewart 25 (2nd)
Most Runs Scored: Florian Peyrichou 31 (3rd)
Most Stolen Bases: Christophe Goniot 9

Best Pitcher: Tim Stewart. He went 5-0 with an ERA of 1.52 in ten appearances (three starts). He struck out 37 batters in 29 2/3 innings, while walking ten.
Best ERA Starter: Pierrick Lemestre 2.67 (8th)
Best ERA Reliever: Tim Stewart 1.52 (2nd)
Most Strikeouts: Pierrick Lemestre 51 (4th)
Most Walks: Pierrick Lemestre 20
Most Innings Pitched: Pierrick Lemestre 67.1 (2nd)
