2010 in Review – Spanish Division de Honor – Baseball Navarra

We are right in the middle for our annual season reviews of European Baseball. We already looked to Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. Now the Spanish Division de Honor is at the plate.

Baseball Navarra

2010 Record: 23-15
2010 Ranking: 4th place in the Division de Honor. After sweeping the Tenerife Marlins in March Baseball Navarra even had the chance to have a shot at third place in the final standings. But Puerto Cruz won the return games and prevailed in the end. In the cup tournament “Copa del Rey” Navarra reached the final, but lost 5-6 against the Marlins.
Runs Scored: 222 (5th)
Runs Allowed: 141 (4th)

Best Batter: Larry Jose Infante. The Venezuelan shortstop, a former minor leaguer in the Los Angeles Angels organization, crushed Spanish pitching in 2010, batting .425 (OBP .526/SLG .938) with 16 homeruns, two triples, six doubles, 49 runs and 36 RBI in just 30 games.

Best Pitcher: Juan Jose Lopez. The left-hander had a 10-5 record with an ERA of 1.68 in 18 starts. He struck out 156 batters in 123 innings, while walking 55. Opponents batted .176 against him.
Best ERA Starter: Juan Jose Lopez 1.68 (6th in league)
Best ERA Reliever: Hector Perozo 0.55 (2nd in league)
Most Strikeouts: Juan Jose Lopez 156 (led league)
