2009 in Review – Czech Extraleague – AVG Draci Brno

A few weeks back we’ve started with a review season on Mister-Baseball. We already have covered the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Germany. Now up is the Czech Extraleague.

AVG Draci Brno

2009 Record: 30-4
2009 Ranking: 1st place after regular season in Extraleague. AVG Draci dominated once again the Czech Baseball championship and won their 15th straight title with a three-game sweep over Arrows Ostrava in the finals. In the European Cup tournament in Matino, Italy, Brno finished in fifth place, avoiding relegation into the B-Pool.

Best Batter: Pavel Budský. He batted .480 (OBP .573/SLG .707) with three homeruns, two triples, 15 doubles, 30 runs scored and 42 RBI in 33 games. He also had ten stolen bases.

Most Stolen Bases: Michal Ondrácek 22

Best Pitcher: Petr Minarík. He had a 7-1 record with an ERA of 1.38 in 15 games. He struck out 65 batters in 65 innings, while walking nine. He gave up 48 hits during the regular season.

Most Strikeouts: Petr Minarík 65
Most Walks: Radek Procházka, Jakub Toufar 31
