During the “slow” winter months we’re going to take a look back at the 2009 season in the European Leagues. We’ve started with the Dutch Hoofdklasse and the Italian Baseball League. The Spanish Division de Honor is next up.

2009 Ranking: 7th Place in Division de Honor. The club from Gijon was ranked seventh despite being tied with CB VILADECANS due to a ruling by the Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation.

Best Batter: Pedro Alberto Mendez. He played in only twelve games, but batted .479 (OBP .569/SLG .625) with two triples, three doubles, 13 runs scored and six RBI.

Best Pitcher: Ruben Fente. He went 6-5 with an ERA of 2.96 in 15 games (eleven starts), striking out 54 in 94 1/3 innings, walking 29.
