2009 in Review – Spanish Division de Honor – Halcones de Vigo

During the “slow” winter months we’re going to take a look back at the 2009 season in the European Leagues. We’ve started with the Dutch Hoofdklasse and the Italian Baseball League. The Spanish Division de Honor is next up.

Halcones de Vigo

2009 Record: 15-21
2009 Ranking: 8th Place in Division de Honor. They surprised during the first part of the season and were able to hold their ground in the upper half of the standings before dropping a few spots at the end due to a ten-game losing streak finishing the year.
Runs Scored: 133
Runs Allowed: 182

Best Batter: Carlos Millan. He batted .272 (OBP .394/SLG .404) with ten extra base hits, 25 runs scored and eleven RBI in 32 games (31 starts).
Best OPS: Franklin Tavarez .825
Most Home Runs: Marco Marques 4
Most RBI: Marco Marques 24
Most Runs Scored: Carlos Millan 25
Most Stolen Bases: Carlos Millan 9

Best Pitcher: Ronny Malave. He had a 6-5 record with an ERA of 1.69 in 16 games (eleven starts), striking out 82 batters in 101 1/3 innings, while walking just 15.
Best ERA: Ronny Malave 1.69
Most Strikeouts: Ronny Malave 82
Most Walks: Juan Jose Lopez 62
Most Innings Pitched: Ronny Malave 101.1
