2009 in Review – French Elite League – Rouen Huskies

Even though we already started the year 2010, we will continue to look back at the 2009 season in Europe’s elite leagues. After the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic , Sweden and Austria we will continue with the French Elite League.

Rouen Huskies

2009 Record: 25-3
2009 Ranking: First place after regular season. During the playoffs Rouen picked up victories in seven out of nine games to qualify for the French Finals. They won the championship series against Savigny Lions in four games and celebrated their fifth straight title in France. In the European Cup tournament in Nettuno, Italy, the Huskies finished in third place with a 3-2 record.

Runs Allowed: 69

Best Batter: Joris Bert. Playing in only ten games after his release by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, the outfielder batted .513 (OBP .583/SLG .667) in 39 at-bats. He scored 17 runs, drove in ten and stole eight bases.

Most Home Runs: Kenji Hagiwara, David Gauthier 2
Most RBI: David Gauthier 30
Most Runs Scored: Dany Scalabrini 36
Most Stolen Bases: Kenji Hagiwara 20

Best Pitcher: Keino Perez. He had a perfect 9-0 record with an ERA of 0.95 in eleven games (eight starts). He struck out 46 batters in 76 innings, walking 14.

Most Strikeouts: Robin Roy 53
Most Walks: Alexandre Sochon 18
Most Innings Pitched: Keino Perez 76.0
