Germany’s Ben’s Bundesliga
Week 9 of Bundesliga South action sees a continued horse race between Heidenheim and Regensburg atop the standings, with the defending champion Heidenheim facing the tougher challenge this weekend in its match-up against the Mainz Athletics. Regensburg, meanwhile, hosts the winless Ulm Falcons in a contest that is certain to fill the scoresheet. In their first match-up this season, Regensburg put 43 runs on the board (and surrendered just one) in a two-game sweep.

The most interesting match-ups occur in the middle of the standings, where four teams are battling for the last two playoff spots. The Munich-Haar Disciples will want to end their four game losing streak in order to remain in the playoff chase, while Mannheim will look to return to winning ways against a Tübingen Hawks squad that will need to steal a way if it wants to be thought of as a serious contender.

In the Bundesliga North, the Bonn Capitals start play against the Solingen Alligators, who have gotten off to a strong start with a run differential of +20 in their four victories.

Czech Extraliga
Week 7 of the Extraliga has a number of intriguing series all across the standings.  At the top, Arrows Ostrava (14-4) will look to remain king of the hill, while Draci Brno (10-5) , fresh off a three-game sweep last weekend, will look to continue its rise in the standings.  The two clubs met in last year’s championship series, with Brno taking the crown.  Game One in their intriguing series starts tonight at 19:00 (CEST).

Speaking of Brno, Hrosi (10-8) will take on the surprise of the season, the newcomers from Hluboka (12-5), who are currently second in the standings. First pitch in the series is scheduled for 13:00 (CEST) on Saturday, with Game Two following at 16:00 (CEST).

With an eye to the TOP6, the Trebic Nuclears (9-9) and Tempo Prague (7-11) will meet this weekend, with Trebic currently holding the sixth spot in the standings, two games ahead of Tempo. Game One in their Saturday doubleheader also begins at 13:00 (CEST), with Game Two following at 16:00 (CEST).

Equally intriguing towards the bottom of the standings, Blesk Jablonec (4-12) and Kotlarka Prague (6-12) will meet for control of the eighth spot, which is incredibly important in a season when next year’s eight Extraliga competitors have to be determined.

Game Three in four of the league’s series starts Sunday at 13:00 (CEST), with the Eagles Prague (12-6) v. Olympia Blansko (1-13) contest the exception with a 12:00 (CEST) start.

Links to the respective streams can be found on the Extraliga’s streaming page.
