Three game days are finished in the preliminary rounds of the qualifiers. The CARDINALS, KRANJSKI, the METROSTARS, BREST and DINAMO all are still undefeated. It is going to be interesting how everything plays out.
Brno, Czech Republic:
The BERN CARDINALS are still thriving at the European Cup in Brno. They defeated the UNION KUFSTEIN VIKINGS 13-3 on Wednesday and are facing the only other undefeated club KRANJSKI LISJACKI today. They beat ZAGREB BC 2-1. However there is now some doubt behind the success of the CARDS. The VIKINGS filed a protest before yesterday’s game, because BERN has three players on their roster, which are usually playing for other Swiss teams. A decision on the eligibility of pitchers Stefan Koller, Jeff Mottl and Benjamin Montag is expected for Thursday or Friday. Update: The CEB rejected the protest on Thursday. Host MZLU EXPRESS defeated the ANGELS TRNAVA 10-5 in the night session. The ANGELS are now 0-3; BRNO stands at 2-1.
Kutno, Poland:
Until now, no results were transmitted to the CEB.
Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria:
The VIENNA METROSTARS and DINAMO each got their third victory of the tournament on Wednesday. The Romanian team crushed SPARTAKOS 20-0 and faces 0-3 BK APOLLO (lost 0-3 to BLAGOEVGRAD) today. The HOMERUNNERS stunned BEOGRAD 96 with a score of 3-2. They are playing the host in the afternoon. Their most important game should be on Friday, when they battle against DINAMO.
Brest, Belarus:
The home team BREST ZUBRS is making everything out of their home field advantage. The also beat UKS DEBY OSIELSKO 14-6 and stands at 3-0, as the only squad without a loss. Behind them STOCKHOLM and KNTU are 2-1 with the Swedish having the tiebreaker on their side. KNTU defeated the ZURICH CHALLENGERS 11-1. Jerome Mueller and Tobias Siegrist pitched for the Swiss.
