2010 Season: The 21-year-old corner infielder Rien Vernooij did play his third professional season in the New York Mets organization and his second in the Gulf Coast League in Florida. He appeared in 26 games and batted .214 (OBP .295/SLG .271) with four doubles, eleven runs and nine RBI. It was his last year in affiliated ball for now, as the Mets decided to release him at the end of the season. He is returning to Neptunus Rotterdam for 2011.
