2010 Season: It was the third professional season for the German first baseman/outfielder Donald Lutz. After two years in the Gulf Coast League he began the year with the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League and batted .286 (OBP .356/SLG .478) with seven homeruns, four triples, ten doubles, 36 runs and 28 RBI in 55 games. But his 2010 season didn’t end in September like for other minor leaguers. After a short stint in the instructional league in Arizona he joined the Canberra Cavalry in the Australian Baseball League. Overall he batted .260 (OBP .312/SLG .520) with five homeruns, three triples, five doubles, 13 runs and 21 RBI in 29 additional games. His primary position is first base, but he also got extended playing time in the outfield. He hopes to get promoted to a full-season affiliate of the Reds in 2011.
