Prospects in 2010 – Andrei Lobanov – Beloit Snappers

Like last year we’re taking a look back at the performances by the Europeans who played in affiliated minor league ball in the United States in 2010.

Birth Date: 01/25/1990 in Moscow, Russia
Throws/Bats: Left/Left
Organization: Minnesota Twins
Position: Pitcher

2010 Season: In his third year in professional baseball Andrei Lobanov had stints with three different minor league teams of the Minnesota Twins. He started the season in May with Fort Myers Miracle in the Florida State League, where the 20-year-old southpaw had an ERA of 2.02 in 26 2/3 innings through 14 games. In June he joined the Elizabethton Twins in the Appalachian League for two scoreless appearances. In July he was reassigned to the Beloit Snappers of the Midwest League, where he also finished the season with a 3.44 ERA in 34 innings. Overall he had a 3-2 record with three saves and an ERA of 2.64 in 37 games. He struck out 56 batters in 64 2/3 innings, while walking 14.
