MLB Veteran Jaime Joins Draci Brno

Posted on May 12, 2022May 17, 2022 by MrBB

The Czech Extraliga frontrunners Draci Brno have reinforced their pitching staff with former MLB RHP Juan Jaime, who in addition to 18 MLB appearances, has also pitched in Japan, Mexico, and various Latin American winter leagues.

The 34-year-old Dominican journeyman pitched parts of two seasons with the Atlanta Braves, making 18 appearances in 2014 and 2015. He struck out 19 batters in 13.2 innings for the Braves but struggled with his control (13 walks and three wild pitches) and finished his time in the majors with a 5.93 ERA.

In eight minor league seasons in the farm systems of the Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Washington Nationals, Jaime threw another 283.1 innings, striking out 12.9 batters per nine innings, with a 3.02 ERA. In 54.1 innings in Triple-A, Jaime earned 18 saves, with a 3.64 ERA and 12.3 K/9.

Jaime becomes the third pitcher with MLB experience in Europe this summer, following Dovydas Neverauskas (Bonn Capitals) and Carlos Contreras (Parma Baseball Club). He will join Draci, who currently lead the Extraliga with a 16-2 record, as the club prepares for the Extraliga Top6.
