Jose Luis Salazar leaves Marlins for Sant Boi

Spain’s second representative in the 2010 European Cup CB Sant Boi keeps busy during the offseason. They bring in catcher Jose Luis Salazar from the Tenerife Marlins. The 35-year-old got his Spanish passport this summer. He batted .398 (OBP .433/SLG .423) with three doubles, 22 runs scored and 18 RBI in 34 games in 2009. Behind the plate Salazar threw out 50 percent (20-40) of the opposing base runners. He will meet his former teammate Daniel Martinez in Sant Boi. They also brought in Francesco Despaigne as new head coach. Jose Estebin Cruz, Milko Jaramillo and Rafael Rivas aren’t expected to come back to the Catalonia-based club.
