After beating SAN MARINO 17-7 on Tuesday in game four of the Italian Baseball Series, FORTITUDO is just one win away from winning the championship in Italy, leading the best-of-seven series 3-1. BOLOGNA started with five runs in the first two frames and blew the game wide open with a six-run rally in the ninth, just moments after T&A had cut the deficit to 6-11.
Eddy Garabito hit his third homerun in the series, a three-run shot in the ninth and drove in four runs overall. Juan Angrisano, Stefano Landuzzi and Giovanni Pantaleoni combined for nine RBI. Claudio Liverziani and Richard Austin scored three runs apiece. Each player out of the starting lineup for FORTITUDO scored at least once. Dean Rovinelli hit a solo homerun for SAN MARINO. Max De Biase collected three RBI, including two on a triple in the eighth.
Jesus Matos (W 1-0) went six innings for the win, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out three. Victor Moreno had some trouble, but pitched the remaining three innings for the save. Horacio Estrada (L 0-2) conceded seven hits, seven runs (6 ER) and three bb in three-plus innings. Luis Ramirez and Matteo Tonellato couldn’t silence the opposing offense either.
Game five will again be played at the Serravalle ballpark in San Marino, tonight at 3pm CET.
