Belgium took the title in the first of two European Championship Juniors Qualifier in Eskilstuna, Sweden. They defeated Great Britain 2-0 in the best-of-three series, after winning the decisive game on Saturday 6-5. They already had won the preliminary round match on Wednesday 14-2 to take a 1-0 lead into the final day of the tournament.
Belgium is going to play in the European Championship Juniors next year in Bonn, Germany. The second qualifier starts on Monday, August 4 in Miejska Gorka, Poland. The Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria and Croatia are the participating teams.
