After getting beaten up 0-16 in the opener of the Holland Series on Thursday, the PIONIERS came back on Saturday to even the best-of-five series with a 4-2 win over NEPTUNUS. Game three will be played on Sunday at the Familiestadion in Rotterdam.

KONICA MINOLTA took a fast 1-0 lead in the opening frame when Jefferson Muzo tripled and scored on a groundout by Mark Duursma. DOOR countered with RBI singles by Sharnol Adriana and Lennart Koster in the third to go up 2-1. They had the chance to blow things wide open, but they left the bases loaded.

The PIONIERS needed until the sixth to find an answer. They loaded the bases for Mervin Gario, who worked a base on balls to force Muzo over the plate for the tie. The next batter Bart Sabel got hit by a pitch, so Hoofddorp could regain the lead. They added an insurance run in the seventh on a RBI single by Mark Duursma. Muzo scored for the third time on the day.

Roger Kops (W 1-0) got the start and allowed eight hits, two runs and a walk in 6 1/3 innings. Maarten Mulder pitched the last 2 2/3 frames for the save. Dushan Ruzic (L 0-1) surrendered three hits, three runs (1 ER) and three bb in six innings.
