2010 in Review – French Elite League – Rouen Huskies

We are in the middle of our annual season review series of the European Baseball leagues. After Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain, we are going to take a look at the French Elite League.

Rouen Huskies

2010 Record: 17-7
2010 Ranking: 3rd place in French Elite League after regular season. During the semi-final round robin the Rouen Huskies went a perfect 7-0 to reach the championship series. In the best-of-five finals they defeated the Savigny Lions in four games for their sixth consecutive title and seventh overall. The French champion wasn’t that successful in the European Cup. In Brno they won just one of five games to finish in sixth place. However they were able to secure the A-Pool spot for France with the win at the European Cup Playoff in September.
Runs Scored: 156 (3rd)
Runs Allowed: 66 (1st)

Best Batter: Aaron Hornostaj. The former minor leaguer in the San Francisco Giants organization from Canada didn’t disappoint in his first season in Europe. He batted .424 (OBP .481/SLG .742) with four homeruns, two triples, five doubles, 23 runs scored and 23 RBI in 18 games.
Best OPS: Aaron Hornostaj 1.223
Most Homeruns: Aaron Hornostaj 4 (led league)
Most RBI: Aaron Hornostaj 23 (4th)
Most Runs Scored: Joris Bert 30 (5th)
Most Stolen Bases: Joris Bert 27 (led league)

Best Pitcher: Mike Musgrave. He made only four starts during the regular season, but made them count. He went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.35, while striking out 33 batters in 26 innings (5 walks).
Best ERA Starter: Mike Musgrave 0.35 (led league)
Best ERA Reliever: Joris Bert 1.64
Most Strikeouts: Mike Musgrave 33 (9th)
Most Walks: Giovanni Ouin 16
Most Innings Pitched: Keino Perez 64.1 (3rd)
