2009 in Review – Belgian First Division – Brasschaat Braves

Even though we already started the year 2010, we will continue to look back at the 2009 season in Europe’s elite leagues. After the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic , Sweden, Austria and France we will continue with the Belgian First Division.

Brasschaat Braves

2009 Record: 18-10
2009 Ranking: Fourth place in Belgian First Division after regular season. During the playoff round the Braves finished with the same 6-6 record like Port of Antwerp Greys, but still had to settle for third due to tiebreaker rules, missing out on the Belgian Finals.
Runs Scored: 229
Runs Allowed: 166

Best Batter: Randy Giorgiadis. The shortstop batted .393 (OBP .509/SLG .643) with seven homeruns, one triple, twelve doubles, 44 runs scored and 24 RBI in 179 plate appearances last season.

Most Home Runs: Randy Giorgiadis 7

Best Pitcher: Clayton Cooper. He had a 9-2 record with an ERA of 2.04. He struck out 106 batters in 88 1/3 innings, walking 33. He gave up only 60 hits all season.
