During the “slow” winter months we’re going to take a look back at the 2009 season in the European Leagues. We’ve started with the Dutch Hoofdklasse and the Italian Baseball League. The Spanish Division de Honor is next up.

Chavez, who later played for Venezuela in the IBAF Baseball World Cup, batted .396 (OBP .467/SLG .514) with one homerun, 14 doubles, 36 runs scored and 21 RBI in 36 games. Marianucci batted .395 (OBP .459/SLG .519) with one homer, a triple, eleven doubles, 30 runs scored and 14 RBI. They were fifth and sixth in the race for the batting title. Chavez led the league with 57 hits; Marianucci was in third (51).
