Dave Draijer leaves Pioniers, returns to RCH

Days after the signing of infielder/pitcher Ryan Murphy, we receive word that the PIONIERS lose a pitcher on the transfer market in the Dutch Baseball. According to Grand Slam News reliever Dave Draijer is leaving KONICA MINOLTA to return to his old club MEDIA MONKS RCH.

Draijer debuted with RCH in 1990, making the jump into the Hoofdklasse with the club in 1997. He later went on to MR COCKER HCAW, before joining the PIONIERS in 2004. In 2008 he appeared in 19 games for the Hoofddorp-based club, posting a 3-0 record with seven saves and an ERA of 2.01. He struck out 21 batters in 22 1/3 innings, while walking five. He also was a member of the Dutch National Team at the Olympics in Beijing this summer, replacing the injured Loek Van Mil on the roster days before the start of the tournament.
