The 25-year-old outfielder Derick Francisca is one of eight players, who will join the RCH MEDIA MONKS. The other well-known is reliever Dave Draijer. In addition pitchers Dennis Burgersdijk (SPARKS HAARLEM) and Seppo Slaman (TIW/SURVIVORS), first baseman Roy Harteveld (AMSTERDAM), utility man Ricky Daal (HCAW), Mark Smit and Bobby Heij (both second team of RCH) will be new on the major league roster of the Hoofdklasse club. Nicklas Melin (Sweden) and Michael Pluijmers (HCAW) will leave them. New head coach Bernie Beckman is going to have a revamped team for the upcoming season.
Francisca joined DOOR NEPTUNUS in 2008, after having played for RCH, AMSTERDAM and ALMERE’90 in the past three years. He appeared in 39 games this season, splitting time between designated hitter and the outfield. He batted .287 (SLG .397) with 21 runs scored and 20 RBIs during the year and helped NEPTUNUS to a second-place finish in the regular season. In the semi-finals they were eliminated by the new champion L&D AMSTERDAM.
