2011 in Review – Italian Baseball League – Cariparma Parma

After a short break we’re continuing our review series for the 2011 season. After the Dutch Hoofdklasse next up is the Italian Baseball League.

2011 Record: 28-14
2011 Ranking: 4th. Cariparma Parma won the championship in the Italian Baseball League in 2010. One year later the Angels reached the semi-final round robin with a 28-14 record in 3rd place. But in the playoffs they only were victorious in three of the nine games for a fourth-place finish.
Runs Scored: 235 (4th)
Runs Allowed: 157 (4th)

Best Batter: Rodney Medina. He batted .377 (OBP .435/SLG .583) with five homeruns, three triples, ten doubles, 30 runs scored and 28 RBI in 41 games for Parma.

Best Pitcher: Marco Grifantini. The Italian national teamer battled control problems, but was otherwise tough to hit, as he went 7-1 with an ERA of 1.27 in 14 games (10 starts). He struck out 62 in 70 2/3 innings, walking 45. Opponents batted just .158 against him.
