The New York Mets officially announced during the weekend that they have added Hensley Meulens as new bench coach to the staff of debuting manager Carlos Beltran. Meulens, who is managing the Netherlands in the Premier12 and the World Baseball Classic, finished a stint as coach in the San Francisco Giants organization this summer – first as hitting coach, later as bench coach. The 52-year-old also had an offer to work as coach within the Miami Marlins organization, but eventually chose to join the Mets.
