This time it wasn’t as unexpected as last year. The New York Mets once again have invited German catcher Kai Gronauer to Major League spring training. The 24-year-old climbed a few steps on the career ladder last year after being invited to the training camp. He began the 2010 season with the Savannah Sand Gnats, got promoted to the Port St. Lucie Mets and finished it up in the Arizona Fall League. Last March he played in two exhibition games as the designated hitter. Hopefully he gets a chance to catch some games this year.
