Yoel Hernandez to pitch for Sant Boi in 2008

Posted on January 25, 2008 by philipp

One of the starting pitchers of the Spanish national team, Yoel HERNANDEZ DIAZ, is leaving the Marlins Puerto Cruz to join CB Sant Boi. The 34-year-old is one of the strongest hurlers in Spain. The right-hander led the league with a perfect 8-0 record and an ERA of 0.56. He struck out 83 in 64.2 innings pitched.

HERNANDEZ helped Spain to finish in third place at the European championship in Barcelona. He won his two starts with an ERA of 0.61. He struck out 16 in 14.2 innings pitched. He struggled at the Baseball World Cup in Taiwan. He gave up 15 earned runs in just 5 2/3 innings (ERA 23.82), losing two games. However it would be a surprise if he were not on the roster for the upcoming Olympic qualifier, beginning on March 7th.
