The Boston Red Sox and Dutch infielder Xander Bogaerts have agreed on a seven-year $120 million contract extension. The 26-year-old was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the 2019 season in Major League Baseball. The extension starts in 2020 and also includes an opt-out and an option for a eighth year. In 2019 Bogaerts will earn $12 million. He batted .288/.360/.522 with 23 home runs and 103 RBI last year, winning the World Series with the Red Sox.
