Cuba took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a RBI single by Yoelvis Fiss in the first and a RBI double by Yasel Puig in the second. Consecutive RBI singles by Rusney Castillo and Yoilan Cerce in the ninth doubled the lead. The Dutch team got on the board in the bottom of the frame with a RBI single by Michael Duursma.
