Just one game got into the books on Saturday at the 2011 World Port Tournament. After the matchup between Cuba and Taiwan got rained out in the afternoon (will be made up on Monday morning), the Netherlands defeated Germany after a tight game 2-1. After Germany took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a RBI double by debutant Florian Goetze, the Dutch team came back to score runs in the fifth on an error and in the seventh on a RBI single by Vince Rooi. The story of the game however was the pitching. David Bergman (W) threw eight innings, allowing just one run on six hits, while striking out eight. Tim Henkenjohann (L) gave up seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and six bb in 6 2/3 innings, collecting nine Ks. Arshwin Asjes (S, NED) and Nils Hartkopf (GER) also took the mound.
