World Port Tournament – Game Report Netherlands

The Netherlands (3-2) got another strong outing from Leon BOYD (2-0) and blanked Chinese Taipei, 4-0, at the ENECO World Port Tournament in Rotterdam. The Dutch will meet Team USA (3-2) in a crucial matchup Thursday night.

BOYD tossed a complete game three-hitter to pick up his second win of the tourney. Ching-Ming WANG threw six solid innings for Chinese Taipei before getting chased in the seventh with three runs.

DOOR Neptunus shortstop Railey LEGITO led the Dutch offensive charge going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Sidney DE JONG added a pair of hits – including a double – and both Percy ISENIA and Dirk VAN’T KLOOSTER collected an RBI.

The Dutch and Americans are vying to meet Cuba in the final game of the tournament this weekend. The Netherlands still must face Cuba and Japan while Team USA has games against Chinese Taipei and Cuba.

In other tournament action, Cuba continued their winning ways with an easy 8-1 win over Japan. The Cubans banged out 13 hits and tagged Tomoyuki KAIDA for three runs on five hits in just three innings.

Alberto BICET picked up his second win of the tourney surrendering only a run and three hits in seven innings. Jose Juilo RUIZ homered and scored twice while Yosvani PERAZA drove home three runs with two hits.

Cuba (6-0) will battle the Netherlands (3-2) on Friday while Chinese Taipei (2-4) will square off against Team USA (3-2).
