The Netherlands and Japan will play the final at the 2019 World Port Tournament in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Sunday at 1.30pm CET. The Dutch team already was qualified for the final after a win over Chinese Taipei on Friday. Japan secured their spot also with a victory over their Asian rivals, prevailing 8-1 on Saturday.
Four runs in the first inning laid the foundation for Team Nippon’s win. Japan only went 1-3 during the preliminary round, but took charge in the double elimination final round with victories over Curacao and Chinese Taipei.
Meanwhile the selection of former Major and Minor Leaguers from the United States defeated Curacao 6-0 on Saturday to claim fourth place in the final standings ahead of the team from the Antilles. Ross Vance struck out eight in six scoreless innings. The shutout was cut short due to rain.
