KNBSB, the royal federation for Dutch baseball and softball, published late last night that the city of Haarlem is entitled to organize the national parade and celebration of the first ever World Championship, conquered in the 100th year of federal “Honkbal”.
Date was fixed at Friday 11/11/11 and Haarlem had delivered a better bid than the other cities: Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and The Hague. All 24 players with their gold medals will join the festivities, which will take place in Pim Mulier stadium and in the streets and on main square of Haarlem.
Friday Oct 21 the city of Utrecht hosted a gathering on UVV playground honoring the two local players Danny Rombley and Orlando Yntema and on Wednesday Oct 26 Rotterdam presented recognitions to Neptunus players Shaldimar Daantji, Diegomar Markwell, Dwayne Kemp, Arshwin Asjes, Berry van Driel and Kalian Sams. Also coaches Brian Farley, Wim Martinus and Tjerk Smeets were cheered by municipality officials and their guests in Rotterdam town hall.
Brian Farley, Sidney de Jong, Bryan Engelhardt and Vince Rooi also opened the official trading time at the Amsterdam stock exchange at 9am on October 21.
