World Baseball Classic Tickets go on sale Monday

Tickets for the upcoming 2009 World Baseball Classic next March will be available for purchase on Monday at the official website WorldBaseballClassic.com. You can buy tickets for seven different venues in five countries.

The Tokyo Dome in Japan hosts pool A with China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. Pool B at the Foro Sol Stadium in Mexico City features Mexico, Cuba, South Africa and Australia. Italy travels to the Rogers Centre in Toronto to compete in group C against Canada, Team USA and Venezuela. The Netherlands play the Dominican Republic, Panama and Puerto Rico at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan. Round two takes place at Petco Park in San Diego and Dolphin Stadium in Miami. The semi-finals and the finals are scheduled for Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

The tournament lasts from March 5th to March 21st. The first two rounds are played in a double elimination format. Japan won the inaugural edition in 2006, when they beat Cuba in the finals.
