Dutch outfielder Wladimir Balentien, a former Major Leaguer with the Seattle Mariners and the Cincinnati Reds, has set a new home run record in Nippon Professional Baseball. Playing for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows since the 2011 season he belted home runs 56 and 57 on Saturday, moving into sole possession of first place on the single season home run list. He had tied the previous record of 55 home runs in one NPB season held by Sadaharu Oh, Alex Cabrera and Tuffy Rhodes last week.
