Just one week is left in the debut season in the Liga Paralela for the ALB ORKAS. Already last Friday they were shut out Yonathan Gonzalez (W 2-2) and the CARDINALS. Gonzalez allowed just three hits in five innings, striking out five. The relievers Jackson Solarte and Castellano continued the effort by giving up just two more hits in the remaining four frames. The ST.LOUIS offense provided the necessary run support in the second period, going up 2-0. Two insurance runs in the seventh and eighth inning sealed the 4-0 win.
Shane Gnade (L 1-1) got the start for the ORKAS. He pitched five solid innings, conceding just two runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out two and lowered his ERA for the year to 4.20. Jesus Perez, Alexis Fumero and Fidel Velasquez closed it out.
Designated hitter Sytse Visbsen had two of the five hits for the team. Daniel Bittar, David Rivas (double) and David Nino were the only other ALB batters to reach base.

On Saturday the ORKAS lost 4-7 against LA GUAIRA in seven innings. The 32-15 club needed only a two-inning rally to produce all seven runs and to decide the outcome. The European team was able to cut the deficit to three runs in the following, but this was too little too late.
Gerson Manzanillo and David Rivas batted 1-2 in the lineup for the ORKAS. Each had two doubles in four at-bats. Manzanillo scored twice, while Rivas picked up the RBIs. Bryon Bell pinch hit late in the game. He had two hits, including a two-run homerun and a double. He also pitched for the first time in Venezuela, going two scoreless innings of relief.
ORKAS starter Carlos Farias (L 1-5) allowed three hits, four runs (3 ER) and two walks in three innings, striking out four. Steven Van Groningen replaced him in the fourth, but didn’t fare better, giving up two hits, three runs and a base on balls in an inning.
Fernando Quijada (W 1-0), who pitched for the Spanish club CB SANT BOI this summer, picked up the win for LA GUAIRA. He struck out two in a perfect seventh.
