This Week in Facebook (Week of April 25)

Posted on April 29, 2021April 30, 2021 by MrBB

If you are not checking us out on Facebook regularly, then you are missing out on much of our coverage of the clubs, national teams, coaches, and players that make European baseball unique. To ensure that you do not miss out on any of our coverage, we will be running occasional summaries of some of the stories we have shared and touched on via Facebook.

With baseball being played across the continent, we have shared photo albums of the Opening Day sweep celebrated by the Dornbirn Indians of the Austrian Bundesliga and photos of Sokol Hluboka in its first weekend of action in the Czech Extraliga. Hluboka has taken the league by storm, with its ace Jan Novak getting his share of accolades, including being named Pitcher of the Week in the league’s first weekend of action.

A more recent photo album captures the Bavarian derby between Regensburg and Munich-Haar on April 23. Regensburg won 10-0, but Game Two ended with a surprise Disciples victory. The club’s new signee, pitcher Zac Treece, who has pitched in the Australian Baseball League and the Atlantic League, played a decisive role in the team’s Game Two success.

In Croatia, Olimpia Karlovac has already collected the season’s first trophy, while in Japan, Lithuania’s Dovydas Neverauskas was recently introduced by his new club the Hiroshima Carp.

Back in Europe, Benjamin Witte continues his fine coverage of French baseball with a story on Team France’s Ernesto Martinez Jr. and Eagles Prague’s Matyas Trcka, at the ripe old age of 15, struck out five batters in just two innings of work in his most recent Extraliga outing.

For these stories and much, much more, check us out on Facebook.
