The WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup continued on Sunday with six games. Even though rain entered the playing fields at the end of the day again in Thunder Bay, Canada, all six got in. The Netherlands reached the win column with a 22-3 rout against South Africa. 14 runs in the first lifted the Dutch team to the victory. Jeandro Tromp and Tijmen Takke combined for nine RBI.
Meanwhile Italy lost their second of three games 1-9 against Chinese Taipei. Australia beat Nicaragua 11-6. Korea downed Canada in a home run shootout 11-7. Japan prevailed over Cuba 7-2. And the United States shut out Mexico 6-0 with the game being called after six innings due to rain.
First round play in Thunder Bay continues through Wednesday. Only the top three of each pool advance to the Super Round Robin.
