WBSC releases Official Promo video ‘The Future of Baseball is Here: U-18 Baseball World Cup”

Press release World Baseball Softball Confederation

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) released the new official promotional video for the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup® 2019 in Gijang, Republic of Korea, marking 50 days to the opening of the one the most elite youth world championships in sports.

The title of the new promotional video is “The Future of Baseball is Here: WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup” and features some of the most iconic moments and biggest highlights from the 2017 edition. The video will be shared with broadcast partners and also be played on the Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark scoreboard as part of the pre-game festivities.

The name of the video reflects the fact that the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cups, along with the U-18 World Cup continental qualifiers, have consistently featured players who have gone on to become superstars, such as Japan’s Yu Darvish and Shohei Ohtani; Canada’s Mike Soroka; Korea’s Shin-soo Choo; Cubas Yasiel Puig and Aroldis Chapman; and USA’s Francisco Lindor, Clayton Kershaw, Bryce Harper, Manny Machado and Buster Posey.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said: “The Under-18 Baseball World Cup is one of the most prestigious international events in the youth sports space, with players who have done well here going on to stardom and securing some of the most lucrative contracts in sports.”

The WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2019 will hosted by the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) from 30 August to 8 September at the largest youth baseball facility in Korea, Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark.

The WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup will then be hosted by USA Baseball, together with cities of Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida, in 2021.

The official website of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup has been launched at https://u18bwc.wbsc.org, and is available in six languages, including English, French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Traditional Chinese.
